Irkutsk Airport is the largest airport of the Eastern Siberia. It is situated in close proximity to city centre of the same name and 60 km from the Pearl of Siberia — the lake Baikal. Not far from Irkutsk there are industrial centers of the region — the towns Angarsk and Shelekhov, which are famous for their petrochemical and metallurgic industry.

The population of the region and bordering on it Buryat Republic is about 4 million people. It forms the passenger traffic in the Irkutsk airport, which is sufficient for organization of direct flights with 25 largest cities of Russia and CIS and also with a number of cities of the South-Eastern Asia. By existing network of air routes our airport is very attractive for transit passenger, following to the airports with a small number of direct flights, such as Bratsk, Chita, Blagoveshchensk, Yakutsk, Lensk and etc.

The advantageous position in the centre of the Asian part of Russia permitted to become the Irkutsk airport the important point of stopover on the airways, connecting the airports of the South-Eastern Asia and Far East with European part of Russia and with the states of CIS. Thereby the airport potential is considered as a transfer corridor on the routes: the Western Europe — the Eastern Siberia — the South-Eastern Asia/the Eastern Shore of the USA. These directions are very prospective from the economic point of view and from the development of international tourism.

Irkutsk Airport has a sufficient number of equipment and necessary stock of aviation fuel for airship fueling without restriction for modern and qualitative ground service of an aircraft. The fuel cost in our airport is the lowest as compared with other airports of the Siberian region.
